Utilizing Visualization for Weight Loss
Visualization is a directed form of thinking and imagination. What we
visualize or imagine is eventually accepted into our mind as a reality. We
can then create and determine the reality of our lives according to what we
actually choose to imagine or see.
The more relaxed that we are the more our subconscious mind allows us
to visualize and imagine ourselves at our desired weight. This helps create
a new reality for the individual.
In order for visualization to work the best we must have:
1. Desire: You must truly want it.
2. Belief: You must believe it is possible for you.
3. Acceptance: You must be willing to accept that visualization will benefit
you.
4. Expectation: It is vital to expect success, considering it a foregone
conclusion.
How does it work?
Children, for example, have wonderful powers of
imagination. A young child playing with a doll becomes a mother-a very real
mother, with a doll, which is a very real baby. Similarly a young boy
playing with a truck in the sand becomes a real worker with a real truck.
Thinking about the activities that are being performed is imagination.
Picturing them in the mind, vividly and realistically, is visualization.
Visualization for weight loss:
1. Take and place a picture of yourself or someone that you admire with the
body size and shape that you wish to be on your mirror where you can see it
at least once a day. You could also carry it with you in your purse or
wallet to take out and look at daily.
2. Visualize your body in your minds eye the weight, shape, and size that you want to be. Allows visualize this as though your goal was all ready
accomplished.
3. When you visualize use all of your senses:
a. Sight-look at your body from different angles in the mirror of your mind’
s eye.
b. Sound-hear people telling you how great you look, and you do look great.
c. Smell-smell the good healthy food that you are eating, example; apples,
carrots, salads etc.
d. Touch-run your hands down over your sides, feel your slender slim body.
e. Taste-savor the healthy food on your tongue; let the taste of the apples,
carrots, salads, and etc wash over your taste buds.
4. You should practice this visualization technique at least three times per
day, more if possible. The more that you practice the easier it will become
and the more that it will help you to lose weight.
